Timber frame construction is an age-old method of building. It utilizes wooden posts,
beams and diagonal knee braces. Pieces are fitted together like a puzzle,
via mortise and tenon joinery, and secured with wooden pegs. Timber
framing allows for local materials to be transformed into structures without extensive
transportation and processing.
They're an excellent choice for their stability, beauty, and sustainability. From a simple traditional
look, to a more ornate design (e.g. using natural edged timbers, sawn on 2 faces instead of all 4), they
provide a luxurious look with an elegant finish.
We offer consultation in the design and construction of your frame. We also do new frame construction of homes, additions, and porches. We can repair or replace timbers in old constuction, be it a home or an old barn. We also dissasemble old frames and reassemble them on a new site, allowing for the preservation of antique structures with a renewed purpose.
